We are in Minnesota! Visiting my parents and brother and sisters. And brother-in-law, grandparents, aunts and uncles.
I only lived in Minnesota until I was seven years old, but my family used to visit every summer. This is the first time I have visited in the summertime in eight years.
I have about two thousand pictures so far.
I think it might take me a long time to sort through them.
So here is what we have been up to:
We drove through Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Nebraska, and Iowa to get here, camping out along the way in Colorado and Nebraska, thanks to a handy website called freecampsites.net.
We went to the Minnesota State Fair on opening day yesterday. The fair is not a big deal in California, but in Minnesota…it is. In fact, more people visit the Minnesota state fair than the California state fair every year even though California has seven times the population of Minnesota. It is possibly the best state fair in the United States.
So yeah. You can just imagine.
a tomato stuffed with chicken salad (better than it sounds)
a cheeseburger (not as good as it sounds)
a chocolate malt
white cheddar cheese curds
zesty cajun cheese curds
roasted corn on the cob
deep fried cheddar cheese curds
We rode on a ski lift. We pet a cow. We did a sing-a-long. We walked for miles.
We need to go back to ride the giant slide and eat a funnel cake and get my wedding ring cleaned and see the My Pillow demonstrator and eat honey ice cream.
Pictures to follow. Eventually.
