Time to go home.
Augie grew out of his infant car seat this week. Buying a secondhand car seat is a no-no, but I wasn’t ready to throw down for a new one quite yet, and I found this three-year-old Britax Decathalon on Craigslist in good condition. So I bought it and cleaned it up, and here it is!
We have a Britax Marathon for Adelaide. They’re pricey and sort of ugly, but they’re great seats. Comfy, sturdy, safe.
We got Adelaide’s from Albeebaby.com. They’ve got the best prices I’ve found for car seats, especially if you can find a coupon code. Google “Albeebaby coupon code” and you can usually find a code for 15% off. (There was one yesterday, but not today.)
I also like that many of the Britax seats can be used from 5 pounds to 70 pounds (ours go to 65 pounds because they’re from 2008). Kids in California have to be in a car seat until they’re
in high school eight years old, and this seat should theoretically work for their whole car-seat-using lives. But I imagine they outgrow the harness at some point, so maybe we’ll have to buy booster seats later on.
ANYWAY. New car seat! Sorta.
I’m a little late posting this, but my parents and brother and sisters and brother-in-law came to visit us a couple weeks ago from Minnesota.
We went to Disneyland three times, the girls went to the beach while the boys went fishing, and we celebrated my parents’ birthdays. It was a full and fun week.
I wish Minnesota and California were not so far apart! Or that January in Minnesota wasn’t so very cold… (Not to mention October, November, December, February, and March).
In any case, it was great to see everyone, and I hope our next family get-together is on the horizon.
Now that the power’s back on and the internet is back up, I can show you a couple pictures from Thursday morning’s wind storm. This is our neighbor’s huge pine tree that was uprooted and fell, blocking the street.
What gets me is that this was not an isolated incident—Kyle and I found big trees like this uprooted on just about every block, and the same thing happened in all of the cities along the San Gabriel mountain foothills.
