Augie with some kid’s bicycle at the park.
Aug’s digging the stairs lately.
This bottle of water kept August busy for a good 10 minutes today.
Adelaide and Augie in the recently refurbished Phil&Teds. (We got new fabric, tires, and handlebar.)
At the park
Augie moved this chair from the living room to the bedroom. Pretty impressive, I thought!
We have been MIA lately…Daddy’s on a camping trip in Washington with his brothers, and we have been keeping ourselves busy with days at the park and a conference at church. For the past three days we have been waking up lazily at 10, leaving the house at 1, and getting home at 11.
Tonight is the last night of the conference. Tomorrow is for tidying up and running errands. And hopefully we will hear from Daddy and/or see him on Friday!
One advantage of being out of the house all day – the floors stay clean!
Also – single moms, military moms, etc.- you are superwomen.
August is 9 months old! Here is an update, a few days late:
You still nurse as your primary food, but you do like to chew on things at mealtime. You like dry food like chicken and pretzel sticks. You do not like anything that feels wet, like avocado or scrambled eggs, and you do not like us to put stuff in your mouth; you like to feed yourself.
We had a few tough nights this month, primarily due to sickness. Most nights, you are a pretty good sleeper. You take two naps during the day, and this is much appreciated. If you wake up prematurely, we can usually lull you back to sleep by laying you on your stomach and patting your back for a few minutes.
You are 23 lbs., 29 inches long, and your head is still 18.5” around. You are in the 75-90th percentile for weight, 50-75th percentile for length, and 90th percentile for head size.
You have also grown more teeth. You now have four teeth on top and two teeth on bottom.
You are getting better and better at standing, but you don’t stand alone, yet. You like to pound on the piano. You love to go outside. You like the refrigerator. Whenever we open the front door or the refrigerator door, you crawl there as fast as you can. In fact, you skinned your nose last week because you crawled out the door and got down one step before Daddy caught you. Now the screen door is always locked, much to your frustration.
I am beginning to see the boy in my baby. And he is a sweet little dude.
I love you, Augie.
Somebody took a three hour nap today!
Augie has been super clingy lately. He doesn’t like to be set down for a moment. Whenever I try to sit him on the floor, he shoots down his legs, locks his knees, and starts whining. And if I sit him down anyway, he wails.
At the same time, he wants to explore, and he wriggles around on my lap like he wants to get down.
Clearly this is frustrating for everyone.
So I Googled “clingy 9 month old” (ha) and found this article on BabyCenter:
So it’s a milestone! Not really as fun as rolling over or the first tooth or crawling, but I’ll take it.
I’ll take it and hope it passes quickly.
