Minnie and Bones
Minnie and Bones
Augs brushing his teeth
August! You are one year old!
Uh…three weeks ago…but I have a good excuse…
YOU.
You are in to everything! Here’s what you’re up to:
EATING
You like to taste it all. Your favorite foods so far are cheese and peas. You like to drink water out of a sippy cup. You still nurse, but mostly at night.
SLEEPING
You still sleep with Mommy and Daddy, although I have been contemplating a bunk bed for you and big sis lately…but I don’t think you’re quite ready for your own toddler bed yet.
GROWING
You are 31 inches tall, 24 pounds, and your head is 19 inches around. You finished out your first year as a big-headed, tallish dude of above average weight. No new teeth this month, but I know there’s more to come, soon.
LEARNING
You have been learning so much! It’s just a matter of whether I can remember all of it…You learned how to walk, and you are a part-time walker—still working on full-time walking status.
You respond to “I love you” or “kiss!” with your lips closed up tight, ready to give a big kiss to Mommy or Daddy. And if you see us kissing each other, you want a kiss, too.
You have a “silly face” where you close your eyes really tight and show us all your teeth.
You are relentless, as Daddy likes to say. You are always waiting for the opportunity to go out the front door and play in Bristow’s water bowl, or crawl on Mommy’s nightstand and unfold all your diapers, or pull out Adelaide’s bottom drawer and toss out all her socks, or open up the toilet and splash in the water, or go to Daddy’s desk and grab anything within fingertip reach.

Now and then I look at you and I remember the day you were born—in an inflatable pool in our tiny kitchen in our tiny house—and I think, wow…that really happened. When I think back on that day, I remember the feeling I had when I first held you; you’re real! You’re alive! And I fall in love with you all over again.
Love,
Mom
Snoozing
Kyle | August
Augie was making funny noises with his mouth, and I tried to get footage of that. But of course when I brought out the phone, he stopped what he was doing. His smile is still pretty cute, though.
Two steps!
So excited for this little guy to walk.
I remember with Adelaide, every milestone was bittersweet. While I loved that she was learning new skills, I was a little sad that she was leaving babyhood and entering toddlerville.
But now with Augie, I feel like I can’t wait for him to start walking and talking and playing with his big sister. I already love seeing them play together, and I know it will be even better once he can hold his own.
Just need to…uh…take some pictures or something…
(Happy birthday, baby boy.)
